A tiny island just off Cinis, built around the Consul’s summer residence and hunting lodge. Its small population of around 1,000 exists mainly to maintain the estate and provide the backdrop for the ruling class. Beyond a magnificent botanical garden, there is little to reveal its privileged status — except for the monumental gate that welcomes visitors to the town. The island is less a settlement than a carefully crafted retreat, where power comes to enjoy the summer.
