
Nurseries grow sorrel, coconut and citrus fruits. Plantations produce coffee, sugarcane and cotton, while 17 oil rigs supply crude oil. The island is home to 2.8k jornaleros. The city is divided in two: the northern district belongs to the Hacienda, while the southern half consists of ordinary jornalero homes. The Hacienda district extends north into a cultural landscape, with magnificent buildings lining the river. The Hacienda itself sits directly on the cliff, aligned on a grand axis with the airport and central fortress.
